3 Interior Door Replacement Tips

Interior doors are one way to enhance a home and make it more aesthetically pleasing.

Interior doors are one way to enhance a home and make it more aesthetically pleasing. You may think that curb appeal applies just to the exterior of a home. However, a home can have internal curb appeal. Most people believe that doors fade into the background, and they overlook them. However, replacing your doors can improve your home’s interior design in many ways. Fisher Lumber works with Simpson, Masonite, and Lemieux to give homeowners interior doors that they’ll adore. Are you thinking about replacing your doors? We have three interior door replacement tips that you should jot down!

1) Why Should I Replace My Doors?

If you have interior doors that clash as far as type and color, then you need an upgrade. Each area of your home should be cohesive. In other words, all the doors in your living areas should match. This concept applies to your upstairs and the basement area as well. Each level should flow, blend, and match.

Replacement should also happen if there are damages or issues with frame alignment. Sometimes replacement isn’t needed, just a little sanding and staining. However, heavy doors tend to move out of place, which is a safety hazard for several reasons. If this is the case, call Fisher Lumber right away.

2)What are Some Common Interior Doors?

  • Wood
  • Faux Wood
  • Glass
  • French
  • Accordion
  • Bifold

Each of these has different benefits. For example, a wooden option is excellent in combating noise transfer. The bifold option helps bring more light into the home as well as adding glass. French doors, when composed with fiberglass, prevents wear and tear.

3) How Do I Change the Interior Trim?

Replacing the trim or molding is an alternative to completely replacing a door. It takes relatively no time to do so. You need a pry bar and patience to remove the trim and then replace the old trim with a new one. Some trim options are flat ones that are easy to paint or a more massive, flared crown molding. Corner blocks and lintels also add to the visual appeal so long as they match the trim.
